Country & Western Star Homes

Country and Western music is typically about love lost and a long forlorn look at history’s past and the oft-ill choices we as humans have made towards each other and especially in relationships.  Country music used to be about “leaving’ your baby” and slapping on a guitar and cowboy hat and heading off into the sunset. Today, country music’s biggest stars are finding long lasting and very happy unions where there is less mess and more dress, wedding dress that is.

Nicole Kidman, the lithe Aussie who has been through her share of marital woes after going through a messy divorce with Tom Cruise in 2003, has at long last found love with country crooner, Keith Urban. The newlyweds just returned from their honeymoon in “the place of romance” – Bora Bora, before which they recited their vows in Kidman’s hometown of Sydney.  The two will make Keith Urban’s house a home in the country capital of the world, Nashville, Tennessee.

Natalie Maines, of the country group, the Dixie Chicks, the group that has since 9/11 made themselves famous by mouthing off on any number of political stances including President Bush and his office, not to mention other political leaders like, California governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger.  So, Ms. Maines takes the heat off of her once in awhile and unwinds by remodeling her home in Austin, Texas, even entering herself on the hit PBS show “Trading Spaces” where she readily picked up a paint roller in order to transform many fixtures in her home that needed tending to.

Kenny Chesney, formerly married to Renee Zelwegger for almost a minute, is a country singer with a heart of gold and a taste for real estate. He currently owns two luxury homes on the Caribbean Island of St.John and has just put his brick-and-white columned Brentwood home up for sale and although he paid 1.4 million for it in 1998, it is now valued at 2.6 million dollars.  He made a short move from this house to a new one that is located in the pricey Nashville suburb of Franklin. There are no reports yet as to what this new home looks like but it was a wise move for Kenny after divorcing Zelwegger to make a fresh start.

As an ode to famed country legend and all-around bad boy, the Man in Black’s house was recently put on the market for sale and any lucky fan would have their dreams come true should they be fortunate enough to buy it.  The home where Johnny Cash and his late wife, June Carter-Cash, lived in a 13,880 square foot dream home on the edge of Old Hickory Lake in Hendersonville, Tennessee.  The house is advertising not only mega-celebrity status but also the house, which was built in 1986 on 4 acres, has 18 rooms, 4 fireplaces and one bell garden. If you would like to pay the ultimate homage to these late great music legends then run on over with 2.9 million dollars.
